Hi there, Cub Scout Pack 1 Mpls. Cubmaster Greg Huff here to tell you a little about our action-packed Scouting program and invite your family to join us on an upcoming adventure as our guests. Tent, whittle and roast marshmallows with us at a camp-out. Hike along with us on an "urban wilderness" trail. Sing, act in a skit, and tell stories with us in the ember-glow of a Campfire Program (or just watch from the audience; performing is not mandatory!). We think you'll have a lot of fun with us and will want to register your K-5 child to join Pack 1. But if not, no worries! We don't require any up-front commitments or membership fees/dues from our guests. (article continues below the link ... scroll down to learn more!)

All parents and siblings of Pack-1-registered Cub Scouts are welcome at our campouts and other adventures and activities. Pack 1 is officially categorized as a Family Pack. This season, our program will include many more opportunities for full-family Scouting, including a once-a-month Pack Meeting featuring interesting guest speakers and/or presentations, as well as skits, songs, arts/crafts projects and other fun. (Note: Parents and siblings of Scouts in a Family Pack are not required to pay additional membership dues. They're simply welcome to accompany their Scout at Pack activities and adventures.)
Pack 1 is committed to a mission of positive youth development in partnership with a diverse and talented pool of adult volunteers. Pack 1, Northern Star Scouting and Scouts BSA do not discriminate on the basis of ethnicity, religion, gender, disability, age and/or sexual orientation. Pack 1 leaders are Mandatory Reporters and each one has received extensive Youth Protection Training in order to ensure the safety of your child while within our care.
Pack 1 Mpls. is a unit of Northern Star Council (NSC) and Scouts BSA. NSC's membership fee for the 2022-23 Scouting season is $180. You may pay in two installments. The fee is set by and paid to NSC. Pack 1 will not not turn away and child of a qualifying age for inability to pay (see the "Financial Assistance" section below). Den-specific handbooks and advancement awards will provided to all registered Scouts. A new Cub Scout uniform will cost about $40. In many cases, Pack 1 or NSC, can find you a hand-me-down uniform in good condition.
Step-by-Step Instructions for Registering a New Scout into Pack 1 Mpls. (NSC Unit #3001)
After you've navigated to the website at the link above, click the blue "Register Now" button located on the middle right-hand side of the page.
On the page that opened next, click the green "Join/Renew" button right next to the words "Youth/Adult Join or Renew Northern Star Council" in the "When & Where" section located on the top, right-hand side of the page.
Next, you will be asked if you want to "continue as a guest, or sign into your account?"
Because you are registering a Scout into Pack 1 for the first time, you may click the "Continue as Guest" button and proceed.
On the page that opened, scroll down until you see the "Register NEW Youth" box. Use the drop-down menu there to choose the number of Scouts you are registering, then scroll down to find and click the green "Join/Renew" button at the bottom, right-hand side of the page.
In the page that opened, click the red "Update Information" button in both the "Registration Contact" and "Register NEW Youth" boxes and then type in the pertinent info for you and for your Scout.
If you're seeing a red stop-sign icon with an exclamation point on the page, you're being alerted that one of the mandatory fields in one of the requisite forms is still missing required information
Once you've entered/updated all the required information in the forms mentioned above, proceed to the "Check Out" page and pay with a credit card (or with your checking-account info)
You can pay in one lump sum, or in two payments
If the registration fee is too costly for your family this year, you may apply for Financial Assistance
NO youth are turned away for inability to pay.
Within the "Register NEW Youth" info page/form, there is a link to an online Financial Assistance application form.
It's on the right-hand side of the form -- to the right of black text that reads "Registration Financial Assistance," there's a blue-text link to the form that reads "Application Required"
If you fill out and submit the Financial Assistance form, you will want to click the check box to the left of the text that reads "Are you applying for "Registration Financial Assistance?" located on the "Register NEW Youth" form/page.
That should do it!
Thanks for stopping by here and learning more about Pack 1 Cub Scouts. I and my fellow Pack 1 leaders would love to meet your family and talk more about Scouting with us. Each of us will Do Our Best* to answer all your questions and make you feel welcome and at home (camp with us, and you might get "volunteered" for a chore -- just like at home, right?!!?).
* Fun Fact: "Do Your Best" is the Cub Scout Motto.
